Cindy Sherman: performance and identity politics

Cindy Sherman is an American photographer who incorporates feminism, performing arts, cultural criticism, and body and identity politics into her provocative works. Sherman is famous because she uses her body when playing roles or roles at work. Her groundbreaking series "Untitled Film Stills" (1977-1980) is particularly important. These black-and-white photos feature the artist himself as a model, wearing various costumes and poses, and depict female stereotypes in movies, TV, and commercials. "The typical idea of pursuing beauty seems boring to me because that is the easiest and most obvious way to see the world. Looking at the other side is more challenging."
