Song Dong is a contemporary Chinese artist, active in sculpture, installation, performance, photography, and video. He has participated in many solo exhibitions and group exhibitions around the world, covering a range of themes and themes, including his relationship with his family and their life experiences in modern China (his widely exhibited installation "Waste Not"), Chinese cities The environment is fickle. In a wide range of practice, Song Dong explored the memory, impermanence, and value expressed by human beings in the rapidly changing social background of China. In 2005, he exhibited Waste Not for the first time. This installation showcased more than 10,000 items accumulated by his late mother, from jars and shoes to toothpaste tubes. A large number of objects that are garbage in nature are designed to show the tiny details of human life and mention the futility of survival, which is a frequent theme in his performances, installations, videos, and paintings. Song summarized his worldview in the central motto of his practice: "Forgotten things are futile; forgotten things are still futile; these futile things must be done."
